Dook’s Corner – Week 3 Plays
I didn’t do so well last week in NFL DFS. I started too much Blount and was banking on a shootout type game with the Jags. I was happy with the Gronk call and Derek Carr. I did learn a little something last week when looking at roster construction of some of the top GPP lineups on DK. Taking 3 high volume running backs with 1 in the flex seems like a great construction. Anyways, let’s get to the picks for this week.
Aaron Rodgers $9300 FD/ $7300 DK: CASH/GPP
Rodgers has been Rodgers. What that means is he’s got 2 games over 300 yards and a passing TD in each of the first 2 games. He gets a middle of the road Bengals defense who haven’t had a good QB challenge yet this season. That’s going to change Sunday when Rodgers lights them up! Over a TD favorite at home. Love this spot!
Jacoby Brissett $6500 FD/ $4800 DK: GPP
Brissett quickly took over the starting job in Indy after signing with the team quite recently. He’s an unknown NFL talent thus far, although he looked good in spot starts last season and went nuts in the one preseason game (his audition). Indy still has decent weapons at wideout and Doyle should be a nice start against a trash CLE defense who just resurrected Benjamin Watson from the dead.
Brady CASH/GPP, Stafford GPP, Carr CASH GPP
Cam, Ryan, Siemian
Chris Thompson $5600 FD/ 4500 DK GPP
I love me some Chris Thompson this week. He’s basically been the Redskins offense over the past 2 weeks while ripping off huge plays for TD’s through the air and ground. I could see him more involved in the game plan Sunday night without big back “Fat Rob.” If his usage was more “traditional” I’d probably play him in cash. This week I’ll have him in GPP as salary relief for my Rodgers/Jordy stacks. I also love having that one player who goes off on SNF and launches you up the leaderboard!
Jay Ajayi $8200 FD/ $7700 DK: CASH/GPP
Ajayi got a huge workload last week and produced in a tough matchup. It gets easier this week against a 32th ranked rush “defense” of the Jets. I expect him to get the ball early and often to take mistake prone QB Jay Cutler out of the game. The game total is low but i like Ajayi to get it done through the trenches. RB1 lock and load.
Ty Montgomery $7200 FD/ $6900 DK CASH/GPP
Wrote Ty Mont up last week and he was #fire emoji. There’s chatter about Green Bay lightening his workload but i’m not buying it. He’s playing at home in what should be a blowout. Ty Mont will be heavily involved to give Green Bay the lead and then to close out the game.
Others to consider:
Derrick Henry GPP
Jordy Nelson $8,400 FD/ $7800 DK GPP LOCK OF THE WEEK
What a great play Nelson is in GPP this week. Screaming high total/Home Favorite/Rodgers number one target/injury concerns from last week! Hopefully those who were burned by Nelson’s early exit last week won’t take a chance and play him this week. That’s where I’m planning on separating myself from the pack. I’m not sure if Nelson will be chalk or not but I’m locking him in my lineups where he’s paired with Rodgers. I also like a full game stack like Rodgers/Ty Mont/Jordy.
Kelvin Benjamin $6,600 FD/ $6700 DK CASH/GPP
The Panthers have definitely started off slower than anticipated this season. A visit from the laughable Saints defense could be just what the doctor ordered. I don’t know if this game shoots out and I honestly don’t care for Newton much this week. I just love the target share and volume Benjamin gets against this awful defense plus no Greg Olsen in the red zone.
Others to consider:
Lockett GPP, Crabtree, Cooper, Golden Tate GPP, Tyreek Hill
Jack Doyle $5300 FD/ $3600 DK CASH/GPP
Doyle has become a bit of a bright spot for an Indy team that just can’t seem to get it together. He’s already become a reliable target for Brissett and takes on CLE this week. He’s mega cheap and I like him to score a TD in this spot. It doesn’t hurt that he’s basically free on both sites either.
Jared Cook $5200 FD, $3100 DK GPP
Washington is an attack spot for tight ends. I’m already high on this game in general possibly shooting out. I played him last year against this same poor WAS defense when Aaron Rodgers was able to find Cook play after play.
Ertz CASH, Reed GPP, Bennett GPP
PHI, NE, DEN, TEN, PIT, GB, LAC
